Gastronomy in La Linea de La Concepcion

The high level of Gastronomic skills in La Linea is most evident in the variety of dishes it offers.
Its principal influence id the Mediterranean, which provides you with exquisite dishes such as:

The feria de la Tapa takes a place in early May, when many of the local establishments display their typical tapas for all to sample, in an atmosphere of fiesta with live performances by local artists.

Beaches of La Linea de la Concepcion

La Linea de la Concepcion enjoys around 3000 hours of sun a year, which together with the cooling effect of a humidity factor of around 74% and the influence of the cold sea breezes, balmy summers and cool, gentle winters.
Thanks to this climate and its two coasts, the Atlantic on the west side, Poniente, and the Mediterranean on the east side, Levante, La Linea enjoys seven sandy beaches, each one fully prepared for visitors with chiringuitos (beach bars) and full clean-up facilities.

Golf in La Linea de la Concepcion

la Linea de la Concepcion offers golf with magnificient views at Alcaidesa Links Golf Course, an 18 hole Golf Course running along the beachside, and with view over La Linea and Gibraltar out to North Africa; truly a golfer’s paradise.
This zone is being expanded to incluye more facilities for first class golf tourism, including another 18 hole course.
The area is close to other courses in the immediate vicinity, including Valderama, venue for the Ryder Cup in 1997, and the Sotogrande Royal Golf Club.
A privileged zone for privileged tourism.

Watersports and Scuba

The geographical location and warm climate are ideal for all forms of water sport, including sailing, waterski, rowing, canoeing and windsurfing.
The character of La Linea de la Concepcion as a coastal town is expressed in the sponsorship of the sailboat “La Linea from sea to sea”, which has been performing magnificently in regattas, and in its support of the young linense Rafael Trujillo, who competed in the Star Class in the Sidney Olympics.
The excellent conditions for sport fishing, from both beach and from boat, have made La Linea de la Concepcion a frequent choice for hosting competitions and championships, at provincial and national level.
Scuba divers enjoy the transparency and light of the water, and the tidal flows, which bring a fascinating ecological wealth to the area, which like a marine nature reserve is home to a variety of species only native to the area.

Bird and Dolphin Safari

The Strait of Gibraltar is the main point at which migratory birds from Central and Western Europe cross into and return from Africa.
The short distance of 14 kms makes it especially important for the gliding species (storks, vultures and eagles), which collect in their hundreds of thousands in the area waiting for favourable wind conditions to help them reach the African continent.
Ornithologists and enthusiasts from round the world study and participate in this amazing natural event.
In addition, the waters of La Linea are home to a great variety of marine species, including three species of Dolphin (Common, Striped and Muller) which are a common sight in the open sea in banks of all ages and sizes.
Daily excursions to see the dolphins in the bay are operated by a number of trip operators.

Shopping

A town in the frontier with Gibraltar, that offers as shopping Mall very active and preponderant inside our county, with a variety of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes, ideal to enjoy a great day out. In the centre of the town you can enjoy a visit to or do a little bit of shopping at the local Market place, with their fresh fish and shellfish stalls, in which the fish is freshly caught every day and disembarked in the exchange market.
If during the day the shops, bars and restaurants invite you to enjoy yourself, at night the town takes off with great amusement and entertainment. The Cruz Herrera Square, just like the centre with its brightly lit terraces, turns into a point of encounter for who is looking for a pleasant place to have a drink with friends.
And for the younger generation who enjoy wild nights and loud music can find all this in the “Palenque” a place where the young and not so young enjoy themselves in beach bars that are open until early hours of the morning, and also for anyone who looks for a refreshing night at the sea shore.
